Dr. Michelle Tu, Founder & CEO
Founder's Story
Dr. Michelle Tu’s dedication to skin renewal and repair began with her daily interactions with young burn patients while working at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern California. It was the most inspiring part of her doctoral research, driving her to learn more about skin regeneration. After years of research, numerous experiments and reviewing countless scientific studies, Dr. Tu discovered a powerful and potent ingredient for skin regeneration and repair – Calcium.
Dr. Tu’s discovery is the foundation of CURA’s proprietary RENOVOCEL™ Complex. A breakthrough technology for skin renewal and barrier restoration, Renovocel™ Complex replenishes the calcium gradient found in youthful, healthy skin and stimulates skin cell renewal. Renovocel™ Complex can be found in CURA’s hydrating Complexion Catalyst Crème.
Dr. Tu holds a Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology with a Designated Emphasis in Biotechnology from the University of California, Davis, where she was also awarded the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine Fellowship for Stem Cell Training. Dr. Tu received her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine and possesses over a decade of experience in biotechnology, stem cell and tissue regeneration research. She has co-authored several peer-reviewed scientific publications, presented her research at conferences worldwide and conducted research at institutions including the Institute for Pediatric Regenerative Medicine at Shriners Hospital, Reeve-Irvine Research Center, and the UCSF Department of Neurological Surgery.
